How to Manually Open Your Garage Door When the Motor Stops Working

 If your garage door motor stops working, do not panic. Most garage doors can still be opened manually, and the process is pretty straightforward. First, check where the door is Before you do anything, make sure the door is fully closed. If it is stuck halfway up or sitting at an angle, leave it alone. A door that is not balanced can drop fast once it is disconnected from the opener, and that can cause real damage. In that case, call a technician first. Find the emergency release cord Look for the red cord hanging from the opener rail inside your garage. Pull it down firmly — some models need a slight pull back toward the motor too.
